Clarification of statement attributed to CPIC regarding Chinese professionals in Gwadar

On the 21st of October 2017 an article headlined ‘500,000 Chinese professionals expected in Gwadar by 2023’ was published in publications including The News, GEO and Jang newspapers. This quote was attributed to our organisation as an extract from a press conference held by CPIC in London to announce our project International Port City. This statement is factually incorrect and there are no such 500,000 Chinese professionals guaranteed in Gwadar by 2023.

CPIC are developing luxury gated communities in Gwadar whilst introducing international best practices to the market. The communities will be open for all residents of Gwadar, be they locals or expats, to live, work and prosper in. As a responsible organisation we are proud to be supporting the local community and currently directly and indirectly provide employment opportunities to over 250 people in the city through site development works and associated supply industries. We expect this number to exceed 500 in the coming months.

Gwadar is a rapidly growing city and the gateway to the $62 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. CPIC are proud to be a part of this mega international growth story and hope to continue to contribute to the development of this booming port city and consequently Pakistan as a whole.

CPIC are particularly thankful to the Pakistan armed forces and relevant authorities including the Gwadar Development Authority for their continued support.
